Maine- America’s “Vacationland”
Oh, Maine. How we love thee. This beautiful state holds yet another soft spot for us at Salt City Travel. In fact, we love it so much that our founder, Sydney, has a tattoo representing the state’s 1901 flag (she’s happy to show you if asked). Known for its picturesque landscapes and charming coastal towns, Maine offers a diverse range of attractions that appeal to all types of travelers. From the stunning Acadia National Park with its granite peaks and rugged coastline to the historic waterfront of Portland filled with seafood eateries and boutique shops, Maine has something for everyone. Visitors can indulge in outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, and whale watching, or simply relax on one of the many sandy beaches along the coast. The state's rich maritime history, delicious cuisine, and welcoming locals make Maine a must-visit destination for those looking to experience the beauty and charm of New England.
When to Visit: While Maine is stunning any time of the year, peak travel season is from early summer to autumn when the weather is generally well-behaved and foliage at its most breathtaking. Winter lover? Maine has you covered there too.
Who Should Visit: This is a fantastic option for those in the U.S. who want to say stateside but feel like they’re in another world. It is also the perfect place for National Park trekkers, nature/wildlife watchers and those who love a great, locally caught meal.
How to Get There and Around: We recommend flying in and renting a car or driving if you’re close enough. This will allow the best access to all of the wonder Maine has to offer. Plus, the drive up and down the coast is spectacular.
